So I went in today armed with many questions. Ranging from, “why don’t we use the IWB to the full potential”, to “how do you balance working full-time and being a mum?”. I’m sure the teachers were having a little giggle at me! I sorted the IWB, wifi access, connecting to the IWB and have lots of good tips on how I will survive my first year out.
I find it funny that even with great ICT, they go unused. Now as you remember, I’m not the biggest fan of having to embed ICT into each lesson but I can see now how it can transform students learning. All the students have laptops and while I find this confronting that can they easily go off task (without the teacher seeing), I can also see many benefits. I am similar to Miss Bultitude that when I deliver my lesson using this technology, I do feel anxious and have heart palpations. WHY?? Because there are so many variables that can go wrong! If you are feeling like me, read this article on ‘Classroom Management in the Tech-Equipped Classroom‘. The most valuable thing I learned from this:
Keep it smart and simple!
So of to finish my lesson plan for the lesson I am delivering on Friday. Feeling excited and anxious about trying to do the lesson with Prezi, Socrative, Moodle and an online exit ticket… BUT I’ll give it a go and at the end of the day – we can only try!
Just keep swimming,
